Front Axle

Muddy:
get some deisel and pafafin and slosh it on the bolts, it will creep in over a few days then get your self a good blow torch and heat the area up as much as you can, try and hammer a slightly smaller socket on and then undo it a 1/4 turn, tighten 1/4 turn, loosen 1/2 term rtighten ect

i would give this ago as it will be a dam sight easyer and i think you mean your bolt is rounded off not stripped.

Matt_H:
never use a ratchet to undo tight bolts - not unless you fancy using halfords professional returns policy!

For the break calliper bolts you need a 1/2 AF socket, preferably on half inch drive, they have an inegrated washer on the back... place the sock on and an extention and give them a hefty wach with a big hammer.  Using a two foot bar you can normally get them undone.

If the thread has stripped you may be able to tap out to the next size although I personally wouldn't do that on brakes.  To get the bolts out weld something to the head of the nut that you can pull on.  Alternatively buy second hand axle ends from someone - they are much easier than doign a whole axle as you'll have all the fun of getting the trailing arms off.

jamesledingham:
it was out of a £19.99 toolkit rather than from my nice expensive set so no loss!

Matt_H:
cool... send me £19.99 and I'll send you some broken tools   :D

jamesledingham:
I've still got loads of useful tools left to break. the ratchet was only a small part of it
