JUST A QUICK QUESTION

chris.hunt22:
I am looking at getting some 235/85/16 or 265/75/16 tyres for my disco, I haven't the wedge to do a suspension lift at the moment, if I get the tyres what problems will I encounter without a lift (I am going to put a 1" - 1"1/2 lift on soon)  I know i might have to chop a bit out of the arches but I can live with that

MudRat:
Easiest thing to do is put a body lift on, cheap and effective!

chris.hunt22:
I have heard that, you have to extend your steering column and gear stick don't you?  Oh and mess around with bumpers

EASIEST ???? Not really that easy   remount rad, move steering, bumper corners, seat belt mounts, clutch pipe, floor supports, plus your gear/transfer levers drop 2"

Why not spend the money on the lift first?

You can get tyres in standard sizes for peanuts used, when people put muds or oversize on they just want rid quick  :D  Thats if yours are really worn

Cheers Hairyasswelder, thats what I thought, I know I could do the mod myself (I am a coachbuilder by trade) but I didn't think it would be that easy!!  Nowt wrong with the tyres I have got, just that I have got AT tyres on 15" steels and road tyres on standard XS deep dish alloys (16"), I like my alloys but don't like the steels, got them with the intention of keeping swapping them as and when, who was I kidding too much like hard work!!  Got the steels on all the time now as I go greenlaning a lot.
