freelander problems

(1/2) > >>

Dave:
Hello i know the freelander had it fair share of problems when it came out but if say a 53 plate petrol ES came up in very nice conditon should i leave it and run away look for a td4, or is it worth a second look.
I must admit that the td4 is the one i was looking for but this has come up and looks very nice.
So would the 18 engine problems be sorted on a car this age or can it still crop up.
Also any thing else to look for Thanks.

V8MoneyPit:
Later 1.8's are improved, but I'm not sure from what date. But they are still far from perfect.

Dave:
Looks like a td4 then i think i know that anyway just saw a nice silver 18 with all the toys. Thanks

V8MoneyPit:
It is a bit unfair really, because there are thousands of 1.8's running around with no problems at all. But the failure rate is far too high as a percentage of total production. We had one for a year or two, but we found ourselves watching the temperature gauge all the time   Never had a problem though!

auto:
I am not a landy fan, but missus has an r plate freeloader and it has never had an ounce of problems with it!!

She drives up and down the country, on road and off and hasn't missed a beat, She has had it two years and she is just having an exhaust done this week, and i swear a wheel bearing is on its way so thats being checked! Not bad really! Quite inpressed!
