Early landys used the flat style lenses too!
The ''H S OFF'' lettering will be refering to the headlight/sidelight switch which is operated by turning the bessel around the outside of the igniton switch. The actual key switch will simply be an on/off switch. They were used on both petrol and diesel landys, diesel heating/starting was done by a seperate key switch. Petrol staters were operated by a seperate button.
Lucas and smiths switches, lights and instrements found their way onto most british vehicles in the 50's so they could be off a variaty of things.
