Hi,

glad to hear you are ok, but still if your neck is sore - see your doctor!

had a similar incident last year, but the bull bar took the brunt of the impact.

that is what insurance is for - we pay for it, don't like to use it, but in the end - if you have to, you claim.

I am no expert on hand brakes but surely non LR vehicles have the brake pads on the rear wheels pull on by the hand brake. Any truth in this?[

Sadly nto mike, much more front end damage than that, the whole stearing system is nackered and suspension is damaged too. Engine damage looks to extend further than the intercooler/rad as well.

chassis is definatly damaged and out of line as the rear crossmember as moved considerably on one side, the N/S is wher it used to be and the O/S has moved rearwards by about 1.5" - not huge but nociable ammount.

Sounds very much the same as my mates 110"... his accident was very similar too.  He came round a blind bend on a dual carrigeway only to find a van broken down...  couldn't avoid as had a car level with him in the right hand lane... shifted the van a good few foot.  And gave the bloke, who was still sat in it, a bit of a fright!!!

Smo, you have a pm by the way....

if you need to take paracetomol inbetween the ibprofin keeps the medicine topped up nicely.

couple of years a go customers son decided to wrap the front end iof his landy round a tree after drink driving.

damage was in a similar area and that needed a new chassis but they classed it as a Catagory C so they brought it back and spent the next 12 months repairing and repainting and its looks as good as new now.

but dont forget if its quite new they may repair it.

gets some rest and hope you feel better soon.

SMO... I know you've been to your doctor but also consider going to a good Chiropractor. They look ath things from a different viewpoint and in some cases can carry out an adjustment that'll take the bulk of the problem away.

But get in early. I had an accident in the eighties where I pretty much dived headfirst to the gym floor from about 5'... went to he medical centre (was a squaddie at the time) na dthe medic gave me a sponge collar and said come back in the morning.

I was off on a course the foloowing morning so just wore the collar for 6 weeks. 20 years later C1 & C2 are misalligned and despite frequent adjustments are unlikely to re-allign correctly. If I'd seen who I should have when it happened I would be a whole lot happier now!

Good luck

Skibum

Hmm, spoke to the repairing garage earlier and it looks like its going to be a write off.

Insurance assesor has been and is doing his report. I was amazed to hear the estimated repair cost...then they said it might need a front axle at a whapping £5500...yes 5.5K for one axle!!!!

Bad news SMO, my 90 was rear ended over xmas, i have a seriously deformed rear but it ain't damaged my chassis other than the very rear and the x member, so i'm lucky.  We all walked away aswell with just the usual whiplash / bruises etc etc which is double lucky.  The only fatality was the J33p, it just folded when it bummed my 90...........

It cant be that much for an axle??? Isnt it the reason we buy landies is because parts are so stupidly cheap??? I would have a look on Paddocks or somewhere and look to see if you can find axles alot cheaper.

I know a van that was close to being a write off and we faught it and found a garage that would send in a quote using second hand parts for some bits and the insurance co said yeah go ahead with that quote then.

It maybe worth a try  :?

Parts would need to be brand new from LR cos of the warranty.

I herd from the insurance assesor today and its been declared a total loss - so now i have to fight about its value and if i can buy back the salvage to rebuild myself.

Thats good advice. You will probably feel worse tomorow. Gentle movements of the aching body parts will prevent stiffening up. Nice hot bath might make you feel better too. Glad your ok. If things dont improve after a few days get down the doc for a check. Some times a few sessions with the physio can work wonders. Ibuprofen is good for these types of aches. If that not working well ask the doctor. There are some good alternatives on precription.
