Transfer 'box trouble

(1/4) > >>

doris:
Hi all

1st begging post on this forum............  so here goes.......

Coming home from work tonight the transfer box jumped out of gear on over-run. Dropped into neutral (auto box) and coasted to slow speed, thunked it back in, no problem, but the lever seemed to go further than usual to get it in. It did it again 3 times on the way home so I stripped off the handle, gaiter, foam etc and cut halfway around the rubber gaiter underneath to have a look.

It works fine rocking back and forth between hi and low on the drive, but the lever has to be pushed all the way until it is touching the metal surround to get it into gear, especially into high range.

Is this a matter of a linkage needing adjusting somewhere or is the t-box dieing??!!

I have been underneath but can't see where the linkage goes. Its a Disco' v8 Auto.

Any help please??

sounds like the linkage that sits on top of the transferbox needs adjusting

Tyke:
Or the grub screw has worked loose and the selector fork has slipped on the shaft . . . . .

Thanks chaps........  that doesn't sound too disastrous.  How do I get at these linkages.....  I can't see them from below and can't get to them from above!

All help appreciated
