Diff lock thingy

<< < (2/3) > >>

jimny gary:
I have same problem as Jimbo, TD5 with difflock sticker but lever doesnt move over. fat lot of good.

Skibum346:
If difflock lever does not move to the left it may be a borg warner viscous coupling that's fitted.

It senses when the axles are turning at diffirent speeds and locks/unlocks automatically.

--- Quote from: "muddyjames" ---DO NOT TRY DIFFLOCK OUT ON TARMAC THOUGH.

If it engages on tarmac you could do alot of damage. I very nearly found out the hard way when I got my disco I put it in difflock as it said you can engage it at any speed as long as the wheels arent spinning and I was on tarmac. It scrubs big time and extremely hard to remove out of difflock as well.

The light that comes on in a 300tdi auto is in the top right corner of the dash and looks like an H and is orange coloured.

ive never reall had any problems when spinning sticking it in difflock

SnakeLogic:
on my 300 Tdi auto, I always has to follow this process to engage of disengage the diff lock

Shift to Neutral, move diff lock lover, put transmission into gear, then back to neutral, push the diff lock lever AGAIN (this time is fully engages) and than back into gear.  Not a big deal, but takes a little extra time.  Is this typical?

jimny gary:
Skibum,

Were the Borg Warner difflocks fitted on the TD5 03 model year? seems strange my car has the sticker that shows moving the lever over but doesnt actually move.....
