My new wheels and tyres....
jimny33:
Finally got myself some AT tyres and smaller rims
I got myself some land rover steels for....free from...my local dealership, and the general grabber at2s 205/75 R15s from Nene Valley tyres (well recomended! :) )
Anyway...the pictures....
it used to look like...
James :)
V8MoneyPit:
So you decided to stick to 205's then, James. How are they in the sloppy stuff? The comment on MadFreelanders web site about AT2's suggests they are not quite up to the BFG level. And how do you find them on the road? Are they noisier?
Oh, and Nene Valley are highly rated. Never heard a bad word about them.
jimny33:
acutally on the road they are not bad at all.
i find them quiet and grippy - they were a but prone to understear for the first 50 miles in the wet but now they are much better than I would have thought! Throw them into a corner fast though and the tyres will chirp, but it doesnt slip really so im very impressed
i went for the 205 width because apparently the rim is only 5.5 inch wide and that is meant to be the widest 'safe' limit because much wider and the the handling goes soggy! It also keeps the diamter of the old and new wheels the same.
Off road...only had a little excusion off road but they are SO much better than the road tyres (as expected) and I found them slightly more sure footed than the bf goodriches i tried in the mud. Then again I found the bf goodrichs very slightly better on road
:D
V8MoneyPit:
Interesting stuff.
We are certainly finding the BFG's excellent on the road. Hardly any difference in noise compared to the old Goodyear Wranglers.
jimny33:
if i had the cash i would have gone for the bf goodrich tyres but i just couldnt find the money :(
Still im very happy with the AT2s...did you have your white lettering on the outside or the inside? :P
