Clutch Help..... Pleeeeeezzzeeee
« on: December 31, 2006, 14:28:21 »
Back when it was warm I fitted a new standard clutch to my zuke.....

After the last but one "play day" I needed to adjust the clutch because it was becomming difficlult to select a gear, so i tightened it up and went to play again..... the last play day saw the problem return after a couple of hours play, so I got under the car and tightened it up again!

And then, I couldn't get gears, there was just loads of grinding noise!

So I've just taken the box out and removed the clutch, only took an hour and a half, was well chuffed, but the clutch looks fine....

All looks fine, loads of wear material, no sign of glazing but the release bearing.... well

Well gunged up... Infact It seemed seized on the shaft and took a little persuasion to remove it....

Now

Could the release bearing have seized on the shaft and could I have stretched the cable.....

Anyone?

release bearings will cause you some troubles. would also think about a new cable as they break up they become a bitch to press until they fainally snap

He probably did not have the little rubber bung that goes in the top of the bellhousing.

fudge id be inclined to check the presure plate aint full of mud if it is it can push onto the clutch it self as you have it out drop it in the kitchen sink and give it a good soak
and id change ya cable as u have most likely streched it now :?

Also, what is the state of the flywheel? If it is worn, then this will cause you to have to make extra adjustment that the falcrum arm wont allow. Its very unusual, but on small high reving engines, its possible. :D
