Well after moving into my canal boat in september I can safly say it is COLD. But that is soon to change with the installation of a nice new cast iron stove! Although there is gas central heating it eats the gas so quickly! the stove is a Morso squirrel which im told is one of the best makes. It is being installed by middlesex and herts boatyard where I am moored, yesterday the stove was mounted on to the specially fabricated harth, which looks amazing, they have done a fantastic job and the welding on it is superb. hopefully by the end of the week the chimney will be fabricated and they will have had a little play with the plasma cutter on the roof to cut the hole! so should have a nice toasty stove in time for christmas

I hope for your sake it is fitted by then, boats make the cold seem even worse, especially when damp (which your shouldnt be!) - must be all the water underneath sucking out the warmth 24/7.

Don't just use steel tube for the chimney. You'll need vitreous enamel flue at the very least. The amount of heat generated is huge. And make sure the stove has plenty of clearance from anything combustable. You really need 18" clearance unless you use fireboard or similar.

Know the one you mean. The old turbines have unfortunately been stripped out though :) Was up for sale for ages.
