hello there any body help got a red light saying check engine on.on my xj and it idal's very low

Sounds like it may be Crank position sensor?

How old is the XJ?

its an m reg 4 liter it drives ok the light sometimes goes out but if you rev it up it comes back on again thanks

isle of man:
i'm thinking throttle position sensor..........about £70gbp
