Smokey 200tdi
VogueSe_paul:
I just bought a very cheap 200 tdi from tamworth, it smokes very badly (white ish ) on start up, but it runs and sounds spot on with no nasty noises, i was thinking may be the turbo oil seals or even pump timing?
any other ideas welcomed :)
Xtremeteam:
white smoke is usually water so id say the head gasket personally
Range Rover Blues:
If only on start up I'd keep an eye on it 'till it doen't run so sweet and then what he ^ said.

True....
But check to see if it's using water... or if there is water in the oil.
Oil seals would usually be blue as per buring oil.
Check the timing... very easy to do, and doesn't take long. I'm not that far from you if you wanted a hand?
White smoke on start up can be unburnt fuel (i.e. if fuel is injected at the wrong time - thus timing out)... black smoke is the result of partially burnt fuel.
