Wheel Differences between 2005 & 2006
« on: December 06, 2006, 11:36:41 »
Howdy Folks

The 2006 RR uses the same offset and wheel nuts as the RRS and LR3.
The 2006 TD6 comes standard with 19" wheels. But there is an option to have 18" wheels.

I have aquired a set of four 18" Land Rover wheels and they require the older style wheel nuts.

Now my dealer is saying that the wheels I have may not be genuine because they don't have a Land Rover part number on them and that they use the older style nuts.

Can anyone shed any light on whether the wheels should have a part number on them that matches the accessory catalogue (which is what the dealer was looking at for reference) and also if there are differences between a 2005 18" Wheel and a 2006 18" wheel (as in the 2006 uses the new wheel nuts or not).

I wouldn't bother about it other than the dealer is trying to tell me that any fault that can be blamed on using these "fake" wheels will be and that they will not cover it under warranty.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Jason

All L322 wheels prior to the 2006 model require the 2002-2005 Wheel nuts - I had to buy a set for mine when I put my 19"'s on Bagheera (2006 RR 4.2SC).

They never mentioned warranty when I took it in - twice.

Make sure you tell your insurance co. though!

Take a pic of the wheel and we'll (pun!) identify it for you

Thanks Thrasher

I'll grab a pic later and post it up, but in the mean time is it your opinion then that there is a 2006 18" wheel that takes the silver 2006 lug nuts? And thus has a different offset to the ones that I have.

The offset difference between 2005 and 2006 seems to be 3mm which is pretty negligable from what I can tell. But then I don't know much about the effects that 3mm difference might have!

Hmmm .... can I see it from the front. They look like aftermarket wheels *for* a Land Rover. I am 6000 miles from my 19's so can't check them, but I am sure genuine Land Rover alloys do not have that sort of thing on them.....

OK here you go this is the front of the wheel.
There is all sorts of crap on the back side of a genuine LR wheel, including a part number :( I checked last night.
