the adverage 'man on the street' forms his opinion on personal experiences, when we get nicked for stupid driving offences, and treated like terrorists, we can hardly be expected to be supportive when the police don't even show up after 20K worth of landrover goes missing...

...and the reason? ...because it was almost certainly stolen by gypsies....

Did any one witness it go?

Without wanting to sound provocative what would you have been happy with officers doing which would have left you feeling positive? (Call this market research if you like) :?:

Few gypsies IME have the wherewithall to bypass a tracker, I'm surprised as any vehicles that gypsies do take (tinkers, not Romany) tend to be transit or Jap pick-ups.  :?

Round here everyone blames scousers.... fact is most crimes are committed by someone within a quarter of a mile of home (domestic burglary, TWOC or Theft from motor vehicle).

Now Landies that go bump in the night either get nicked for there contents or stripped and sold to peeps in bits at the likes of Old Sod who are willing to turn a blind eye. Modern Landies tend to go en mass and will be organised groups bunging them in containers next to be seen in south africa or the Eastern block.  Tinkers are making too much fleecing old dears for tarmac'ed driveways and other sinister scams from my experience. Any direct theft is usually Diesel, mini diggers and plant.
