God this things driving me mad
lyndon:
Right then. The front sunroof seal. Leaked all through the last lot of rain, so I got hold of a new one. Fitted it last night. Cleaned all the sunroof guttering right out. Took all the fittings off the glass and sealed them up with silicone sealant. It was leaking right on the passenger side fitting that holds the glass in place. Both rivets had sealant over them. Guess what. Its still leaking in exactly the same spot. I have tried everything. The new seal is perfect. No gaps and 100% as far as I can see. Now water shouldn't be able to get at those rivets. I have even resealed them with silicaone and still it comes. It is much slower than it was but I am still getting wet. Aaaarrrh!!!

I had that and it was because the seal was the wrong way round. I fitted it the same as the old one, and that had been put in wrong. Might be worth checking.
lyndon:
which is the right way around ?. I have put the thick end outer most and the softer side with ridges innner most if that makes sense ?. Think I'll try the other way tomorrow can't be any worse I suppose.
thermidorthelobster:
Not very easy to describe, because they fit in about 3 different ways if you put your mind to it. But I managed to mess mine up, anyway.
lyndon:
The thing is still leaking like a sieve. Now its coming in through both hinged areas. I can't see how this is happening. inside the gutter the seal sits in are 4 rivets which hold the hinges on. Then the seal sits ontop of these. I have checked, double and treble checked the seating of the seal and it looks perfect. Still water is coming through those rivet, whcih are under the seal. I can't understand it. The seal is so tight its unreal. I have even sealed over the rivets with sealant, which shouldn't be anywhere near water and still it pours in. AAARRRRHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
