td5 bulkhead on a 1985 90.

(1/2) > >>

Nobber:
ive just mounted the bulkhead/dash panel assembly on the chassis and im swapping over the dash etc but they are different.
has anyone done this conversion before?
just wondering what problems i need to address and how to go about it.
i know the transmission tunnel needs cut out a bit to accomodate an lt77 and i will have to drill a few holes for the dash bottom to fit on to the bulkhead but is there any supprises i need to know about?
and how did you work the wiper motor/assembly to fit?
cheers,

Rob.

Xtremeteam:
what transmission tunnel you using?

Nobber:
im using an lt77 but the td5 transmission tunnel is different , its smaller.
to make a td5 bulkhead fit over an lt77 gearbox the hole needs to be cut wider ,around an inch on either side.
holes will then need to be drilled to bolt the lt77 diaphram to it.

hingmy:
lt77 tunnel is two part. One bolts to the bulkhead and the other bolts onto that and the seatbox. Having fitted a galvy td5 bulkhead this is what i did (pre galvy of course)
cut the r380 flange off the bulkhead, lay the lt77 'mantelpiece' section on, draw round it and mark bolt holes etc, cut  to suit.

As far as the dash goes, from what i can remember, the major problem is the different wiper rack. I went with the older continous drive set up so removed the mounting plate for the td5 wiper motor and offered the former up. Iirc there was some minor tweaking to make it fit but nothing more complex than holes/filing etc.

Also worth considering is plating over the a/c hole in the drivers footwell. Off course if you want to galvy the bulkhead drill a lot of holes in it and remember the ribs in the footwells.

Nobber:
nice one hingmy , i take it the floor plates went in ok?
