Smaller steering wheels?
« on: November 18, 2006, 15:54:37 »
I'm looking at buying the Mountney steering wheel off ebay but before i do, i'm just wondering if it has a massive impact on the steering? i.e because the series 3 doesnt have power steering does having a smaller wheel make it just about impossible to steer. Thanks in advance people.

ive got quite a small wheel due to having bucket seats. and you dont notice really, you cant turn the wheel when your not moving anyway.

no probs here.

I prefer having the smaller Mountney wheel as it is fatter and easier to hold onto (in my opinion).  Ensure you get the correct steering boss with it as when I first got mine it didn't, I had to get one from a stand at Billing in the end (and I'm so glad I did!).

I had a smaller 90 steering wheel fitted to my S3, but swapped it back to the original.  I just found the smaller steering wheel much harder work.  If you intend spending a lot of time off road, it'll probably be fine, but I use my s3 to drive to work and back every day and it's much easier with the old bus size for that sort of use.
