I think it was more to do with steam locomotion than burning the hydrogen  something like the heat of the explosion superheating the water into steam thus either reducing the cylinder size or causing a greater force and increasing the power.
And yes I reckon it is a scam if you buy the parts you'll get the instructions he's trying to sell you

Saw a "Mythbustres" recently where they used a web sold "Hydrogen Conversion Kit" for the car that electrolysed water to produce Oxygen & Hydrogen. Course... nowhere near enough Hydrogen to even start the car never mind run it!

We should get hold of a list of the people who buy this and send them an offer to let thm buy a limited edition £5 note for a tenner... telling them it's an investment for the future!   :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

In theory it should work. Only one problem, how do you produce enough electricty to create enough hydrogen from an engine thats running on the hydrogen your producing.  :?

The more I think about it, the less it makes sense.  Water is an exhaust product of combustion, as skip says it's burning (oxidising) hydrogen that gives you nothing but water, you need to put a lot of energy into water to get hydrogen out.  If it were this easy more people would be doing it.
