Heater blower/matrix
xmob:
Today I will be replacing the heater blower/matrix in SWMBO's 200TDi Disco.
Other than ear plugs for the kids, anybody got any pointers/tips?
I've put the full day down to do it, and allowed for tomorrow morning also.

HI THERE,
WHAT SORT OF JOB WAS IT? HOW LONG? ANY PROBS?
ALSO HOW MUCH WERE THE PARTS?
ALOT OF QUESTIONS ,I KNOW BUT MINE DOES BLOW WARM AIR BUT IT TAKES ABOUT 15 MILES DECENT DRIVING TO ACHEIVE IT. BIT OF A SOD WHEN ITS ONLY 9 MILES TO WORK
SO I'M TRYING TO WEIGH IT UP!

It was an absolute pig of a job!
Not particularly difficult, just very time consuming.
Steering wheel off
Centre console out
Dash out
Took the whole weekend.
Got the matrix/blower assembly for £25 from a mate who had just trashed his Disco (big time). It was the motor that was at fault on mine.
If you want just the Matrix, there's one here, free to any takers. I have no idea what condition it's in (LOOKS ok) 'cos the blower never worked while that blower assembly was in the car. I was going to bin it, but I'll keep it for another few days.

Flush your cooling system then fit a new thermostat, if that isn't it look for leaves in the air intake.

Just found this thread.
Having similar problems with my heating, although the warm air does blow onto the windscreen it doesn't seem to blow onto the dirver/passenger!!
Would flushing the system on mine sort this? How do I do it and is it an easy job?
As it's getting close to winter and cold mornings/nights I want to sort this rather quick like.
Cheers
Steve.
