OIL IN THE ECU LOOM!!
smith335:
help, just being poking around under the bonnet of my td5 disco, and i have found oil in the ecu loom.
its only in the wires that go to the red plug.
ive took the ecu out and cleaned the oil from it and in the socket, ive cleand the red plug as well.
there was a bit of oil in the box were the ecu sits.
i have not had any problems with the running of the disco(touch wood)
i just found it with out looking for it.
what can i do?
do nothing?
wait till it plays up?
get it fixed?
i bets its going to cost a lot to fix,any help or advice would be great .
cheers

smith335:
thanks for those links.
i know what the problem is now, but am a little confused,as i dont seem to have any misfire or any running probs.
now i am not sure if this has just started or has been going on a while.
should i just replace the injector harness?or the engine one as well.
thought being that if i change the injector harness, then the engine harness will no longer get contaminated.
advice please.

Change the injector harness first & clean out the plugs on the engine loom, you "might" have to fit an engine loom in the future but thats no a big deal, takes about an afternoon
smith335:
any idea how much the injector harness will cost?
what other parts will i need to do the job?
i will do it my self,if i can and want to get all the parts round me before i start(its my only form of transport)
if its not a diy job, how much would the dealers charge?
thanks
