oil leak

(1/2) > >>

muzzer:
ESO Has sprung an oil leak ,just got back from a trip to Portsmouth, and it lost nearly three liters of oil in the five hundred mile round trip.
I think most of it was up my rear door and windscrean. (No idea how it got on the rear door).so are any of the oil leak stoppers you can get any good, have seen one on eblag and thought it might be worth a shot as I have no idea were the leak is ,and swmbo is not happy with her drive full of oil.

Henry Webster:
Three litres in 500 miles is alot, I think that instead of looking for a stop-leak product you should spend some time trying to track down the leak.

I guess because you say it has used three litres that you know it is coming from the engine!?  If it is losing so quickly you should be able to find the drips.  I am afraid its a case of get under there and have a good look.  You may find it easier if you give the engine/underside a good pressure wash first.

muzzer:
thanks will get the ramps out and get under it with the  pressure washer and then look for drips

Ja1983:
In my experience bodging something never pays off, to be loosing so much means theres a big problem, and i have issues with the fluids used to stop leaks, rad weld for example... many knackered water pumps and blockages soon seem to follow.

find the cause, fix and worry no more!

Daz800:
You will spend more time and money doing a bodge. Find and fix it.
