disco-v8:
ok i have a disco 3.9 EFI V8 with cats, and im after a sports exhaust system for it

well im after the tubular manifolds and Y piece, it wud be better if it wud fit onto the standard system but not important!!!!!

i want to get rid of the cats to make the V8 roar!!!!!!!

ive seen rimmer bros system but dont want the full system just in case i rip it off when off roading, so was thinking of just get some exhaust pipe made up to fit to the manifolds

as much help needed

cheers in advance

A word of caution, as far as the MOT is concerned... if your vehicle was manufactured with cats, it should have cats.

At least, that's what I remember from other's posts.

Better make sure before spending the money!

burgerman:
Yea. would be a good idea to check mot requirements befroe hand,   I have a 3.5 efi disco pre cat model, and have had a full rimmers stainless system fitted for about four years now, sounds better than std but defnitaly not loud, (tried removing centre box- toooo loud for most occasions)   we have done some pretty serious laning and play days, and so far the only damage is the rear tail pipe is very slightly kinked (not bent) where due to overhangit was pushed up against the h/duty steel bumper, Hope this is some assistance??

Hi mate
as for the mot and should you have a cats fitted it all depends on the year pre 1993 no need to worry after that then the emissions are the things to worry about as long as you pass the test your ok, if your running on lpg you ok what ever your year

Ogbyte:
One of our 96' V8s is CATless, but passed it's MOT earlier this year without problems - it also runs on LPG too which probably helped.

I think the CAT issue rears it's head if the car is built after August 1996 - there is a paragraph on Rimmer Bros website that discusses this - it's in the Exhaust section.

regards
Gary
