lpg diesel conversion

<< < (2/2)

fudge:
There is a company near King's Lynn called Selina Automotive, they have done a Mondeo TD.....

When I was asked about converting a Vito DCI to Gas I spoke to the guy there (Andrew I  Think) and He Said D O N ' T it'll go B A N G

But as is said everyone will tell a different story!

Jake:
I payed a small fortune for a LPG conversion on a V8 a few years ago.
1 tip, research it loads.
talk to the installer, grab a tour of the workshop and talk to ex customers.
If you dont feel happy with them, find someone else.
I enquired with one company and they sounded great.
But, when it came to dropping the car off the garage was horrible and it felt wrong but i still left it there.
When i collected the car it went wrong loads.
I had nothing but problems with them.
I ended up recifiying the problems myself (not what you pay £1500 for!)
Go with your gut feeling, walk away if you dont feel good about them
I wish i did.

Range Rover Blues:
I had a similar story with RRR, the gas system was well fitted but a lot of the brackets they made lookes shoddy, so whilst I was fitting the new head gaskets (came back with a bit of a wheeze) I remade them.  Now got a very nice LPG system. Did the LSE myself, runs nice straight away.  Funny that.

As for LPG on Diesels I think we've all heard the urban legend about 185BHP from a Merc sprinter, for the fourtnight it lasted but the truth is it's good for the engine because it cleans it up.  On an older engine you have to keep re-tuning, adding progressively more LPG as the engine becomes cleaner.  It also reduces emmisions to below the new level5 standard.  LPG or more correctly Butane is a catalyst for the oxidation of Diesel so it releases more energy more quickly from the burn, you either use less or burn more rubber, that's down to howw you tune it but given the alternative additive systems currently in use (and how faulty they are) to acheive the EEC5 emissions I think LPG has a future in Diesel.
