Beware of insurance renewal time.

(1/2) > >>

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
I've just had the papers come through to renew my insurance. I fully expected it to rise following a little ding last December, so decided to ring round for a few quotes.
My current company, £358
Lowest other quote, £263
Went back to current company and hit them with the lower quote and asked about their 'guarantee to better the other quote', which they did by a couple of quid.
Nice!
But, there would be the fees for setting up the instalments and issue of policy documents.
I was just about to say OK, when it suddenley dawned on me.
I had already paid these last year, when I had originally set up the policy.
I pointed this out and there was a few mumbled excuses about 'peoples time' etc, and then the chap puts me on hold.
He comes back and his manager has agreed to drop the additional charges.
How jolly decent of them (slight hint of sarcasm), £45 less to pay!

Moral of the tale is to check the paperwork and push the beggars!

Ja1983:
Never.. EVER accept your first renewel quote, they will always try and slip a few quid on in the hope that you will do what 99% of people do and just accept the easy option of sign and return!

Never pay "paperwork" charges either, they can issue them for free or not at all, they make enough as it is thanks without additional charges!

Daz800:
And check the small print if renewing.

I did and found "I" was taken off the policy. I was told that they no longer did "named drivers".

I cancelled the policy (swmbo did as its in her name) and got a better deal elsewhere.. Result.

Daz.

strapping young lad:
oh and ensure you have been renewed if its supposed to be automatic

bloke got done by the rozzers cos it came up that he wasnt insured even though he thought he was

turns out the insurer didnt automatically renew, and i think they sent him a letter but he dismissed it
