it's a diff question

Damon:
At the risk of looking stupid (nothing new there) I'm pretty sure that if you fit a front diff in a rear axle (or vise-versa) it will drive/pull in the wrong direction.   :?:

As mentioned front and rear diff internals/side gears are different.

SJ410 diffs won't fit an SJ/Sammy, they are too small and have the wrong ring/pinion ratios.

Vitara diffs (internals) will fit and SJ/Sammy and are much, much lower geared  :D

Q:  What are "pumpkins from a vitara"  :?:  :)

rollazuki:
When I had sammy axles in the zook(a long while ago now) I could interchange front and rear diffs no probs. As far as I can remember they were identical. There are 2 ratios if I remember right, both 3.something as far as I know, and then there are vitara ring+pinion at 5.something.

I do know the 410 diffs dont fit, they are too small.

If you fit vitara gears, you need a retaining ring for the diff gear pins.
