Tachograph Question ??

Can anyone help me with Tacho question?

I'm looking at buying a LWB Sprinter van, problem is the van is fitted with a Tacho, is it possible to downgrade to carry less weight (I need the space, but not the weight carrying capacity)

I'm sure I've read somewhere you can do this, but can't find anything about it now.

it was probably fitted as it was towing a trailer for a business - should be ok to ignore it.. best ask VOSA 1st tho'!

ANY vehicle with a gross weight of 3500 kilos or less does not need a tacho.

A vehicle can be downgraded. I have seen a 7 tonner downgraded to 3.5 so a sprinter shouldnt be a problem. Chances are its currently at @4.4 tonne.

Hi there, you don't need to run with a tacho card inserted if all the driving you do is for private. If you go over 3,500kgs for bussiness then you need a tacho.
