hobbit:
Could be its been in something else and thats the ring for it, but def a 2.25 diesel landy lump, thing is were they not fitted in loads of the austin taxis (Black cabs)?

bigant:
right engine number is

a 2 then under it says 541874 any help

Andy the Landy:
Looks like a 2 1/4 diesel from a 2A - has water shut off tap for heater and a DPA pump.
Could the adapter plate be for fitting a Landy engine to a different gearbox - such as a marine installation :?  ( only thinking this way as a neighbour has a canal boat with a 2 1/4 Landy diesel in it)

steve_h:
Nah, thats not an adapter plate, its the standard Landy flywheel housing. You can tell by the hole and cover plate used to check the timing marks on the flywheel.

Oh, and it says "Dualcast" on your head. I've got a petrol version in my '68 series 2A, 1959-61 vintage (the engine), it predates the landy its in by 7-9 years!

Whats unusual is that my petrol engine is the one that ran alongside the early two litre diesel in the series two. Its got smaller big end bearings and a different water pump to later 2 1/4 engines.

Steve.
