BeJay:
sorry to hear you got ripped off a bit on the sale of TRUG Jarrod, but given that the guy was a bit of a con artist it could've been so much worse, don't forget to look after yourself and especially your Nan, and good luck with the V8 project, we'll keep a lookout for the updates.

...........regards, Jack & Lisa.

--- Quote from: "i'll be back" ---Well, i got stung in the sale of trug........ the new owner took me for a test drive in this mint a1 celica vvti, i had a good look round it checked everything etc..... this morning went to shops and had to brake heavily  , thats when i realised the discs are warped. He also gave me a Dell laptop which actually works but battery only stays charged for about 35mins, then there is the 70mph petrol model car  ..... that doesnt start at all, turns out there is parts missing. The only thing that wasn't faulty was the cash.
If any of you guys ever do meet the new owner when he gets stuck, tow him by the rear nato hitch has hard and fast as you can with a kerr rope. Hopefully the xmember will give way, its rusty enough.

Tip, never buy anything sold as seen..... no matter how good it looks or sounds.

Without seeming rude.... you bought/swapped a car that you have never even driven???  A driver can hide a number of things you know!!!

He probably avoided braking hard for the very reason he knew the brakes were shagged....

The laptop.... well, all you could do was believe him...

But why didn't you test the nitro car when he was there???  Or had he disappeared by then???

I've known people get stung in the past, worse than you have....

Just remember you didn't know that person from Adam, and appearances CAN be deceiving.

blade:
regarding the laptop i've an acer had i number of faults with it from new depending what im doing with it the battery can last between 30/120 minutes

Edge:
Porny, you are 100% correct, i should have got him to show me the nitro working  .
But regarding the celica.... I did drive it, all the way from Jedburgh to Duns, which is probably 30miles+. Didnt get chance to or need to slam the brakes on.....didnt think i should have to.... as i checked all brake pads/ wheels for play in bearings etc, checked all suspension/lights/electric windows mirrors etc/ checked for signs of damp or leaks throughout the vehicle/checked oil cap/ tyre tread etc etc..... I checked everything that could be checked without sticking it on a garage ramp and lifting it.
Think i may have sold the laptop.... the mechanic who worked on trug wants to do a deal on it against my MOT/ repair & retest/ and work on this celica's discs inc parts.... i'm not sure how much a dell latitude is worth :?:
Any ideas..... anyone :?:

You drove the car for 30+ miles and didn't notice it had warped discs. What is to say the bloke you got it from knew there was a problem? Also if the car is in mint condition in all other respects i wouldn't say that needing a set of discs and pads constitutes being stung! Just my opinion.
