Allisport Stage 2 Intercooler
Horness:
After reading yet another happy post about someone having their intercooler swapped out by Allisport (on the Discovery Owners Club Forum), I'm thinking about having it done myself.
On a 1998 TDi with air con - how much am I looking at, and are there any alternatives? I already have the EGR blocked off and Allisport Silicon hoses fitted.
Thanks
Horness

Having been to Allisport quite a few times, I'd definetly recommend them!!! Andy's making me a custom intercooler for my 90

Just had this back from Andy...
--- Quote ---We offer a number of upgraded intercooler options for the Air Con models, designed and built by ourselves. The first is designed to fit into the original mounts next to the radiator. This has been redesigned to gain an extra 50% more surface area over standard and will provide 18-20% more power and torque in the lower and mid-range revs, which is ideal for towing. Throttle response will also be improved along with fuel economy.
We prefer to manufacture from scratch rather than just “re-core†an original Land Rover item, allowing us to use a far larger and more efficient core.
This is an easy DIY installation job and will cost £285+vat.
The second option is suitable for manual gearbox models only. This involves the installation of a much larger intercooler in front of the radiator and A/C system. There are pipework extensions to connect to the engine and turbo, which necessitate cutting two holes through to the engine bay. The benefits are greatly improved, up to 35% improvement in power and torque for £410+vat.
Thermal stress is actually reduced as the EGT or combustion temperature is reduced dramatically. As your vehicle is not electronically controlled, there is no ECU to remap, so we optimise the fuel and boost settings to match the intercooler mechanically.
We are offering a free fitting service which would take 2-4 hours depending on the conversion, otherwise the kits are available for DIY installation with comprehensive instructions.
We also manufacture highly efficient uprated replacement aluminium water radiators and silicone water hoses, if this is of interest, I would be happy to give you more information.
I hope this is of interest and look forward to hearing from you.

I think I'm going for the BIG one.
I've asked about the aluminium water radiators and silicone water hoses too. If the price is right, may get them done at the same time for major engine blingage. 8)
Porny:
The radiators are very nice!!! 8)
For bling, they also make....
Aluminium radiator mounting panels/frame work - replaces all of/or part of the steel frame that holds the intercooler/radiator
AluminiumFuse box cover
Aluminium brake master cylinder cover
Aluminium screen wash bottle
Aluminium header tanks (that don't split like the standard ones)
And aluminium intercooler pipework.
Have a look under the bonnet of the disco they take to all of the shows!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Just bear in mind that you may not be able to fit a winch, on a close fitting bumper, if you go for the full width intercooler. They put in front of the air con one which means it may get in the way of a winch.
