lol, just come from there and read your post ;)
according to them the 2.0 is based on the Manta / cavalier unit..but boxes are ISUZU..could be fun!!!
BeJay:
The only Frontera's worth having are the ones that have the Isuzu 2.8TDi in them, wouldn't bother with any of the others, I ran a '95 SWB Sport for three years and never had any probs with it and got an average of 30 MPG out of it either with a heavy right foot or towing a tandem axle trailer with my classic car on, couldn't fault the motor but did get fed up with the "hairdresser's car" comments eventually, but as it's for SWMBO that shouldn't be a prob
P.S. I assume Wing Nut is joking or he has never used one offroad as they are very capable given the right set of tyres and someone who has some idea what they're doing
dave_2A_2.25Turbo:
don't touch the 2.2 16v models. Exhaust manifold studs shear off in the head on a regular basis. Head gasket change is a real pain. Top ends cost a fortune - it's cheaper to buy a cxomplete remanufactured engine from the main dealers than a head and cams (cams run directly in the head and are about £350 each IIRC).
Nasty, nasty nasty.
Unlesss my mate just had a bad one.......
