injector or not  ,my 200tdi is smokin on the bottom end to three quarters throtle and smells badly of unburnt deisel do you think its a injector if how can you mend them or clean Thanks Ray

Matt_H:
well smoke means lack of decent combustion caused by fuel air not mixing or ratio wrong. I'd be inclined to check the air ways first - when wa the last tmie the filter was changed?  That's the easy and cheap stuff then think about injectors if needed.  I've not heard of injection pumps going in quite that way but it is always an option (also the most expensive)

injectors are the first thing to get checked out,(assuming air filter ect is ok, and a compression test is ok) what colour is the smoke, white i presume. the best way is to take them out and have them checked at a diesel workshop ( www.lsuk.co.uk ), but if the truck has done any mileage, they will be out of tolerance. so they will have to be re-nozzled, try that, if its still no good, then start to look at the fuel injection pump.

I'd suggest that the first thing to check is the air filter and then the turbo hoses as these are easy and cheap to check!
