Range Rover Blues:
Sounds like you all need new wipers :?

They also sweep different arcs each time, somtimes quite small, other times right to edge of screen.

yep, quite ammusing! end up sat on the middle seat so i can see in heavy rain!

maybe tieing a pigeon to the wiper blade would provide better wiping?

....also the three speeds i have are slow, very slightly slower, and stop!
....screen wash works great for the car behind, and will not adjust at all no matter how hard a jab and wiggle a pin!

defenderdan:
They are worst in snow cos you end up with two tiny arcs to see through and the rest of the screen solid with snow :D

SLUDGE:
Now then, I reckon the reason they  park or sweep eraticaly is because of the amount of flex in the wireything that drives them and different amounts of friction between the wipers and the windscreen.

Rather than just replacing the switch try cleaning and emerying the contacts there dead easy to get at when you take the switch off and you can spend the money on beer instead.

Also the contacts on the cable connecter at the wiper motor could be rusty and not give a good electrical contact, the connector body can be taken apart and cleaned up, but there are a few fiddly bits that fall out and miraculously change shape while your looking for them so they won't go back together again!!

Mine are exactly the same! You can even move the wiper arms by hand as there must be about 4" of play. I have some new arms ordered so hopefully this will sort it
