I had two mk2 2.8 ghia x granadas, the second being an estate with manual box. two capris first one a mk3 1.6 calypso that smoked 20 a day and grunted alot, the final trip for that one was around the mendips raceway,   she put up a good fight shame about the prat at the wheel who had no idea what rear wheel drive is all about. The second was a 1.6 laser that bettween a friend i sold the car too and myself we put in a injection 2.0litre twincam from a granada, that could keep up with the 2.8s, on the first outing we totally screws the brand new brakes we put on, AP 6 pots and ovesize discs had to replace severly bent a blue originals!!   ahh them were the days  :D

Yep! Fetch around £10-£12k these days. Although there are conversions to make the standard 2CV 4 wheel drive. And by all acounts, they are quite handy being somewhat lighter than an SJ and with far superior articulation.

Think I've posted this one before, but this is my Midget.

The front uprights in particulare on mk3/4/5 cortinas are excelent for use in grass track, banger etc. racing and are also used a lot for kit cars  , however the supply has all but dried up. The trusty ford sierra has taken their place, having said that even they are becoming harder to come by these days.

Cortinas arn't the only cars to meet this fate, there are kit cars to suit most cars that are or were easily avalible.

As for the rest of them, they have probably long been scraped and recycled by know. having said that i did come across a pair of MGBs side by side rusting quietly in a scrap yard the other day.

abinitio:
My first car was a Cortine mk5 estate, spent the whole summer doing it up/ welding/ spraying etc, great car.

Does make me smile when I see the odd one around. Mind you round here you hardly ever see sierras, they all seem to have disintergrated :D
