2. how can I limit access to parts of my site, ie via a password.
3. has anyone got or knows were I can get a visitor count programe from?
Cheers

so long as you've uploaded the document to your website (how depends on your ISP but you need some kind of FTP) yes.
don't know about the password - i think it requires some kind of secure server.
you can however get hit counters of all kinds from various freebie sites; i usually start at the free site. Sorry don't have the URL but i'm away from my home PC, however if you go to my site (see signature[oops! not there - www.thriveunderpressure.com]) and use the non-medical links page it shouls be there.

just noticed - why does 'beginner' show as a subtitle under my handle?
i'm not criticising, just wondering is all...

Make sure you upload all the files associated with the report page. ISTR that Word creates a direc tory with a lot of nonsense in it when it saves as a web page (but I could be wrong)
For a counter, as Wifey says, a quick Google ought to find you a simple free one.
As far as the password protection goes, a lot depends on the hosting company. You may be able to set up a .htaccess file (again, a quick Google ought to find you some instructions), this will give you the standard browser log-in box.
If your host doesn't support this type of file, then you may be able to find a Javascript alternative at one of the free sites.
Sorry.. not a great deal of help, I know. :?
