Why Why Why Why Why Why Why         :x  :x  :x

I like to wade (don't we all?) but it seems to be costing me a fortune in starter motors

My V6/V8 Series three had three starters on it

HANG OVER had 4 starter motors on it

Bobby has now had three in the short time we've had him......

All of these have been second hand, and I know that buying a new one would probably prolong the problem slightly, but as they all seem to suffer the same fate (full of water and then rot) I don't want to chuck a fortune at a new one and it die just the same.........

Is there anything can be done to waterproof them....

Is it just me ?????????

(staying out of the water isn't really an option    )

Range Rover Blues:
On the V8, it's waterproof into the belhousing so you need to wrap it in something that can stand the temperature, or buy an ex military one.

banditman:
mmmmmmmmmmm

What's different on the ex military one RRB?

Range Rover Blues:
It's waterproof :D

No, sorry that was a bit obvious  , but they were specc'ed to be waterproof so I think they are sheilded or something.  You can't just wrap them in a bag though as they get a bit warm.  I don't have one, too many holes in the floor to go in that deep :?

banditman:
I have too RRB....lets out the stuff that comes through everywhere else really fast though

Might keep an eye out for a mil one then........

Dead chuffed with myself as I just managed to strip and rebuild a small Lucas one I had which now spins over for fun (badly corroded solenoid contacts being my problem on that one)

Once I managed to get the solenoid bits collected back together after it exploded
