Fire Alarm Systems

<< < (2/2)

ChrisW:
If it's listed then it would more than likely be unsheathed pyro.
Technicalities of installation haven't changed much, loop in-loop out, seperate sounder circuit and DIL switches for addressing the heads / call points etc.

I might take you up on that one day ;)

Have two sat in antistat bags in my cupboard ;)

None of the kit I've looked at are using DIP switches. It looks to be the same ID 'biscuit' system used in the intruder alarms. Without actually having a system to hand though I dont know. Now leaning more towards getting it installed, which is a pain.

End of topic, I cant actually do half the work, so some other lucky sod is gonna get all the monet for this because I dont happen to be a member of the right trade bodies etc etc etc. And way too many unknowns here, what makes it bite even more is

£1300 + for the relevant courses to teach me what I already know!
£130 for the bit of bloody paper telling me what I already know (BS5839)

Fact that its for Bunnie's Pub makes it worse as it now means twice the disruption as I go round and do the non-fire related security jobs too.

Co-Incidence the fire regs just changed and course prices have quadrupled? In short, any idea I had of actually doing this sort of thing as a side job have gone down in flames because of beurocrasy. Second bloody time this has happed. Only last time starting the buisiness would have cost £17000 and then £25k worth of paperwork.
