HGV drivers
littlepow:
Easy way is if a HGV is turning, don't drive up the either side of it to the junction. The trailler front will swing out wider than the cab position. That and they may not be able to see you.

Talking to both HGV drivers and motorcyclists gives a whole new perspective on driving. I've become a lot more tolerant of both since learning what's different about them on the road.
Most people think they are good drivers, but in reality they aren't. I know my faults; I don't always make the best decisions, especially if I'm in a hurry or annoyed about something. But I think everyone who drives needs to do something once in a while to improve their standard of safe driving and consideration of other drivers.
We all (pretty much) put in lots of effort learning how to drive off road, but I'm sure not so many people make a point of trying to drive safely and courteously on the road - which is where most of us spend most of our time.
Unfortunately the two organisations that promote Advanced Driving in the UK - the IAM and RoSPA - seem to be sufficiently out of touch with reality that they're seen as being far too "fuddy duddy" and "nanny state" to actually help much any more.

to give a answer to turn left at a junction the room needed in normal driving with a 45foot trailer on its ready for this 20ft that is the differance between were the front wheels of the unit is compared to how far the trailer wheels will cut in puts dont forget the rear overhang is normally about 6 foot as well and that will swing out in the opperset direction to the unit.
And i take it no one has spotted the danger points in the video i put on iifc there are 4 things.
