Sloppy Transmission/Drivetrain

<< < (2/3) > >>

AbyssDJ:
its probably something simple... you aint been over anything rough have you? could have banged a prop on something and mashed a UJ up maybe?

try it in diff lock.. if it stops, that might narrow it down to something after the gearboxes i would think?

Anything rough.....lol

Difflock is engaged whilst the problem persists, its not a "new" problem, just one that seems to be more and more noticable at the moment.

DiscoJim:
My Disco has quite bad play in the transmission too, but then it is 11 years old and has just turned 100K miles so not too much to worry or complain about.

I reckon the play is in the diffs or driveshafts as you can turn the props a good 1/8 or more of a turn before the wheels engage drive. I have been advised that this is down to the crown and pinion gears in the diffs.

I have gotten used to it now but when other people drive it they think it is horrible. :P

You shouldnt have it with yours at that age.

ibexman:
Presumably its still under warranty - get the dealer to sort it :D

nice pics - looks like hollinsclough area?

Yup under warranty and booked in for a week already to sort various issues (rear crossmember, door not closing properly, rust on bulkhead caused by water (leak now fixed), brakes pulling hard to right (scarry) etc!!)

Any idea what the problem could be tho Dom as its always handy to point a dealer in the right direction otherwise itll never get fixed.

Yes, those pics are from hollinsclough yesterday morning :)
