'On Roaders' Welcome or Not?!?!?!?
sleeplessparadise:
But green lanes have to be driven the same as TARMAC and are restricted by the same laws as roads must wear seat belts etc and so they are technically not off road

Of course everyone is welcome... if you like 4x4's then join in (if you don't like them then still join in, but expect a very hard time!!!! :D )
If we start making it off-roaders only where will anyone start? The best bit about 4x4's is the friendliness and banter in clubs such as mud-club.
As previously mentioned, if a member joins who has worked in a Land Rover (or Suzuki, Jeep or any other) garage for years and years but never off-roaded, then they could be a very valuable member to have!!
I off-road, but am relatively new to it, so have little advice to give... but eager to learn from all (both mechanics/technical and off-road techniques).
Cheers,
Nat

Um....a message from member number 1. Some of you know me, some do not. I own 3 4x4's. Piglet, Bagheera and Elvira. All of them have *been* offroad, but only ONE is generally used offroad.
This forum was, is and will continue to be a 4x4 biased FUN,FRIENDLY and FREE place ;-)
If people start getting uppity about who can, who can't and who should post - then sorry - they will be the ones that get a sharp word from me.
Oh....forgot - sig has changed - for those that don't know :
Bagheera - 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged 4.2 V8
Piglet - 1997 Discovery 4.6 V8 - caged, armoured and one of the first...
Elvira - 2001 Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin 2.0 GDI
So er.....I cover most bases. Greenlaning is ON-ROAD (but off-tarmac). People really must learn this differentiation ;-) I will happliy greenlane ALL of my fleet - and my old 4.4 Vogue put many a mile under it's belt on England, France and Belgiums unsealed roads - as will Bagheera....
att:
What about those of us who are retired off roaders?
I would just like to say that I retired from Safari Comps some 10 years ago, and this site has rekindled my interest in the off road scene and allowed me to become more up to date with the current legislation etc.
I even got some mud tyres for my Nissan pick up today
I feel it should be open to all........It can be a good thing you know.
Re-Discovery:
THIS IS NOT A POST TO ALIENATE NEWBIES, THIS IS AN ANTI POLISHERS DEBATE
i.e. THE PEOPLE THAT DO NOTHING TO SUPPORT THE HOBBY / INTEREST, THE PEOPLE THAT DO NOTHING TO DISPEL THE GAS GUZZLING BULLS**, THE PEOPLE THAT GREENPEACE SHOULD BE TARGETING, THE PEOPLE THAT LEACH OFF FORUMS FOR TECHNICAL ADVICE, BUT GIVE NOTHING BACK, THE PEOPLE THAT WON'T EVEN TAKE UP THE OFFER OF 'RIDING SHOTGUN' WHEN IT'S NOT EVEN THEIR CAR BEING DAMAGED, THIS IS THE PEOPLE THAT YOU DON'T WANT BEING ASSOCIATED WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE A GENUINE INTEREST IN AN EXCITING HOBBY/INTEREST.
I am not against people who have yet to enjoy the adrenalin that is released by off roading / green laning / quarry bashing or whatever floats your boat. I am just against the people that bring a genuine interest into disrepute.....The people who take, but give nothing back and are not likely to ever change!!!!!!!
