LT77 gear box (axles & props) on a series III
« on: August 14, 2006, 13:51:38 »
Hi All,

It's advice time again.

I need a new gearbox as mine is shot on my 88" 1982 series III with a 2.25 Diesel.

However as luck would have it I have a good 2.5 Diesel, LT77 and a pair of axles and props from a 90 can these be transplanted faily easily.

Is it a case of, mounting the gearbox and welding some spring cariers on the axles then sorting out the brakes?

Simple job or am I missing some thing major?

Thanks in advance.

i think u need to move the engine mounts forward as u'll end up with the gear levers where the seat box is. as for the axles ive been told the back is easy to do but the front is hard coz on the track rod is on the back of the axle

You will also have to fit wheel arch extension 'eyebrows' due to 90/110/RRC/Disco axles being wider than Series axles.

This is what a rangy/disco axle will look like on a l/w body, on 7.50s, check the flares necessary to keep it legal
