1.5 inch lift or 2 inch???

(1/3) > >>

nat_hale:
Hi all,

I am considering lifting my disco a bit, but as its my only car and used daily (inc. motorway cruising!) I don't want to go too mad.

I was thinking about putting a 1.5 inch lift on it, rather than the 2inch, with the hope that castor correction wouldn't be necessary, and the car should still be usable day-to-day (i.e, handling OK, fuel consmption, fits in car parks, etc, etc!!)

Has anyone got any thoughts or suggestions (silly question!!)?? Any one had a 1.5inch lift and wished they'd had 2 inches (or not bothered at all!!), or vice versa?

My thinking is that 1.5 inch is just enough for a bit extra chassis clearance, but not too much to 'upset' other things?! (or am i completely missing the point - what do you think?)

Thanks in advance,
Nat

Range Rover Blues:
Then go for a 1" lift, if your springs are tired the car will be a bit low anyway.  I fitted red/whites to RRR supposedly the Police spec so it shouldn't lift too much, well it's 1 1/2" up at the back and near 2" at the front

Jake:
I'm taking the 2" lift off of mine soon.
I'm fitting Police spec red and whites on.
My car keeps munchin front UJ's and the caster is all wrong.
If i was going to start again i'd just get heavy duty springs with gas shocks and stick with normal sized tyres.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Disco Bristol:
I went for 1.5" I am very happy with it, it has not made any major diff to the road handling.

Just what ive been preaching on Mud-Club for ages ,I had no lift on my 90
just HD springs that did in fact make it sit a tad higher than norm-i then fitted 235/85/16s the 85 profile lifted it another 1/2 inch under the diffs,
it went all the same places as the highly modded stuff-a standard Landy by nature of the way its built is better off road than most of the people that Pilot them, spend your money on underbody protection and the very best tyres available - ie BF Goodrich,
