Do you eat British?

<< < (2/5) > >>

att:
Don`t get me started on this one.
The Red Tractor logo means little anymore.
Organic meat is a complete illusion, just look up the specs of what they feed the animals in the winter......Just look up the specs for organic full stop......Then think of the extra profit to be made.

The only way of knowing what you are eating is to grow and raise it yourself.

There are a huge amount of false claims made about food and most of them without fear of prosecution, there are not enough peeps policing the industry.
The industry is corrupt, it is endemic, it is in the pursuit of wealth and power.

I know, I have worked in the industry and with the industry for over 20 years.

Scarry, but from what i have seen even the poor standards in some parts of the UK are far better than those in the EU/other places, and its about supporting our own country and our own farmers.

Jimbo:
Whenever possible.

We have a local farm shop that sells all manner of locally grown/produced fruit, veg, cheese, bread etc - slightly more expensive than the supermarkets, but the taste of 'real' veg is worth the extra few pence

And.......some local friends breed 'large black' pigs (a rare breed) - the pork and sausages from them is out of this world. We're going to try curing ham and bacon next.......if it's successful, I'll be able to eat true locally produced bacon butties forever !!!!!
