Oil leaking out of dust cap, front ns axle end.
zacjake:
Would this be the oil seal damaged? Is there a quick fix kit available.
Please help. :?
Sorry forgot to mention its a 1986,90 Landrover
Wolfie:
I'd guess at the seal inside the stub axle. Have just had to do one on Heather and it isn't much of a job.
You will also need the bush or bearing (depending on age of the vehicle) as the oil seal is behind it. Getting the bush out (H is a 200tdi) is easiest if you take the attitude that it's cheap enough to replace - and therefore hacksaws, chisels and hammers are acceptable removal tools. I'd guess the bearing in later axles can be treated in much the same way.
Replacement is simply a matter of careful use of a hammer, I used my rubber hammer.

Can't remember as I have binned the invoice. Also it will depend on which axle you have got, they changed between 200tdi and 300 tdi. Look at Paddock Spares site.
You'll need:
Gasket for Stub axle to swivel housing,
Oil seal,
Bush/Bearing according to axle type
Wheel bearing lock tab - again 2 types available depending on axle.
I'm not at home so haven't got access to manuals, or a reasonable speed connection.

If it's an '86 I'd assume it's either an N/A or TD which as far as I know used the same Axles as the 200TDi. Don't hold me to this though.
