Fly tipping

<< < (5/5)

the loon:
its a problem we have around here to varying degrees.
Theres nothing as bad as cars being dumped and burnt out all the time I have only eve know 1 instance of a burnt out car local to me but the council took almost a year to shift it as it was on open land.
The field it was in was part of a local farm however theres no gates etc as they get used as an open area by the locals for dog walking etc and theres no right of way across them but they get used to access local open woodlands.
The reason the car wasnt shifted was because the council wouldnt except responcability as the car wasnt on there land or public highway so there was a bit of a wrangle as to who should foot the bill however when the local community police stepped in and meadiated a resolution all was sorted.
There are however plenty of small country lanes around me and there are regularly piles of junk left in gateways of besides the road.
Credit where credit is due again though gateshead council will normaly get stuff shifted with in a week unless they are investigating tippers.

My farther in law works for newcastle city council in Fenham (kind of a down market beruit style part of the city)He's part of the local community task force and part of his job is investigating and reporting fly tipping.
They requantly have to shift fly tipping piles in excess of a ton and its normaly not just household waste but builders rubbish etc.
His worst expeariance was a catering fridge dumped behind a kebab shop that had been closed by enviromental heath. The premises where rented so when they where closed the tennents basicly did a runner(they where wanted by police in connection with other matters) but they left this old fridge out in the back lane. After a week or so of hot weather locals complained about the smell in the alley so out goes the farther in law to see what the score is and finds this fridge Opens the door and its full of putrid kebab meat (elephants leg's on scewers) There where 3 in there and one fell out and splattered on the road covering him in putrid rotten meat
he had to return to his depot and they hosed him down in the yard it was that bad
The upshot was though the police caught up with the former tennents and they had to pay over £4k in fines £1k of that was for the dumping of the fridge as it costs a business £500 to have the council dispose of old industrial fridges and frezzers

Terminus:
Not much I can add that hasn't already been said - erm well actually being as it's me there probably is such as:

Fly tipping is much harder than cow tipping you have to sneak up on the fly with a pencil and knock it over when it's sleeping.

Ah wrong fly tipping right?

But on a serious note - cruelty to flies is unacceptable - but not as bad as the ********** pick an expletive - that dump their rubbish in the countryside - takes less effort to throw it in the council depots.
