FITTING 33/12.50/15 TO DISCO1
Budgie:
--- Quote from: "bullfrog" ---All the discos I have seen on here are 3 doors.
Dont forget that fitting 33"s to a 5 door is quite a bit of work. Not just ozzy arches and a +2" lift.

Apart from the Rangie Spares 5-door arch kit being more work to fit than a 3 door kit, I can't think of anything else that differs between the two models? :?
Both have the same chassis, drivetrain & suspension setup, it's just that one has 2 more doors, how does that effect fitting of aset of 33" tyres? :-k
bullfrog:
It means you have to remove either a large portion of the rear door and arch which is not quite a simple as just cutting out on a 3 door to fit spats OR raise the vehicle 4/5" as this is the height required to stop tyres catching on standard bodywork . :?
You could fit them with a 2" lift but they will catch the moment the vehicle leans or articulates.
I have 33"s on my RRC and have had them on a 3 door disco and the arches are the same size.
3 door rear arches are similar to the fronts on any LR where as 5 door rears involve cutting through the steel frame and ally skin then reatatching them and making sure the rear door still has a seal.
You also have to reatatch the rear wing higher as the mounts were where the arch was cut.
Bulli:
Bullfrog you are right it is more work fitting the arches to a 5 door but other than that 33's will go in with a 2 inch lift.
even with 5 inch of lift if you didnt alter the arches the rear quarter would get eaten if you have any flex at all.
i have 35's in and only had a 2 inch lift at first.....ive since lifted it further to accomodate my suspension set up.
Budgie:
Sorry Bullfrog, slight misunderstanding.
I thought that you were saying that, on top of the difficulty with fitting the arches to a 5 door, there were other differences between the 3 & 5 door model Discos that had to be taken into consideration in order to fit 33" tyres. #-o
I know about the problems with fitting the rear arches to a 5 door model and was just glad I had a 3 door!!
bullfrog:
Thats cool, 8)
I am mainly doing it to my 5 door rangie as its less common.
I may well trim the arches back and fit ozzy or defender spats later.
Its just plucking up the courage to chop half the rear door out
