Help with getting Un-Stuck when in mud

(1/3) > >>

Disco Bristol:
Ok so I have just bought 2 huge shackles and a 11,000kg ARB snatch strap. Just wondering how I attach it to my Disco when being recovered.

The shackles are fixed though two towing points on my steering guard.

Do I need a chain or something to make a V shape between the shackles so the ARB strap pulls from the middle? Or ho should I do it?

strapping young lad:
have you got recovery points on the front of the car?

if you dont then you might want to mount them to the chassis i guess

is the snatch strap one of them kerr ropes?

cos you ideally could do with a steering guard with mounts cos the steering guard would strengthen the front of the chassis from bowing towards each other from pulling stresses.

It very much depends on the situation. Generally straight pulls should be OK form one or other of your steering gaurd recovery points and pulls should really be straight anyway. If your having to be pulled sideways, then it should really be done with a winch and snatch block anchored somewhere in front to allow a forward pull.

Anyway... a bridle (strop between yer recovery points to form a V) can be useful as it spreads the load somewhat.

Hope this is useful.

What is a bridle made from, dont tell me thats another £50!!!

Jim-Willy:
I loop the strop through both front recovery points and that works for me.  A bridle aint big money but i havn't got one.
