Actually, No, a Tachometer is a rev counter. There is also a second kind of Tacho, called a Tachograph That is used in HGVs to monitor speed. It works by projecting a laser onto a round disk, with time and speed printed on it.

unless you have the needle type that draws on the disc, and it monitors working hours mainly
