48oz Steak!!
« on: July 23, 2006, 01:31:44 »
The Red Lion in Wellam do an awesome steak, 48oz!!!!!  :D  its called the titanic (no idea why lol). A6003 till you get to the harborough turning, go all the way round the round-a-bout, take the last turning and immediately left, then just follow the signs for Wellam.

Highly Recommended!!

Long time back, my local gave a 4lb steak with side extras and a beer for £12 or free if you cleared your plate and drank the beer. It didn't take long to end this when me and my mates visited regularly...and finished it too.

Make sure you book a table a week or so ahead as they need to order it specially and it takes hours to cook.
Ost is right though, and it is within walking distance of my house so you can all buy me a drink and see if I can walk home

Should make your way to South Africa, we used to buy 'Texas Steaks' from the supermarket, go great on the brai, the smallest one we found was about 2kg, 70oz the went up to about 4kg 140oz, the small ones were only a couple of quid too and really tasty, not fatty and stringy like some you get served over here. I have to confess that we bought them, cut them up and had steak a couple of nights running.
