Interesting idea, one i have thought about however with the weight of a 265/75-R16 on alloy there isnt a cat in hells chance of getting the bonnet open without removal, which is a pain due to the weight!!
I think i'll stick with the rear door, hopefully soon on a swingaway carrier :)

Won't get to see much out the front either!
Jimbo:
I picked up a spare for the 110 yesterday (didn't get one when I bought the truck), 7Jx16 modular with part-worn BFG AT on it - I'm not a small bloke, and I struggled to lift the thing  . There's no way I'd put it on the bonnet as:
a) SWMBO would never be able to see over it, and
b) I'd struggle to get the damn thing off if/when I had a flat, and
c) The bonnet hurts when it hits you on the head now, with the extra weight of a spare wheel on it, I'm sure it would really really hurt :(bigshock):

When I bought my old 110 Hard-Top it had a bonnet-mounted spare, I took mine of as well.
SWMBO could hardly see the front & it cut into my view of the near-side corner
I just kept it in the back laid flat with a board over it (resting on the wheelboxes)
