Glad to see they have done their homework properly...

I have complained... suggest you do to

--- Quote ---The zero-emissions smart EV (Electric Vehicle) launches on Tuesday as does the Mega City NICE (No Internal Combustion Engine).

Errrr....no they're not zero emmision. The pollution just belches out somewhere else. F*ckwits.

rangerider:
Anybody want to bet that rise includes the rally type 4x4 vehicles such as the imprezza etc, and the performance executive motors such as the Audi RS4 etc to help load the figures up?

MrTFWitt:
Perhaps the writer should have a read of the official Government emission figures for all vehicles.

Theres no point describing a Nissan X-trail 4x4 as "One of the most polluting car on the road" when it has exactly the same CO2 emissions as a Bmw 320i.

Here you go
http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/search/vedSearch.asp

Select "Band - G Petrol" Then choose all and hey presto the Beemer and a 4x4 sitting next to each other.

I could probably pull out other examples but the first one gets the point across.

Then of course you might want to think about the end of life cost of these new vehicles.
When a traditional car gets scrapped the vultures pull bits off, the tyres get removed and the whole lot goes in a giant shredder to get melted down and used again.
A hybrid power vehicle has LOTS of nasty chemicals in its batteries.  Lets see what kind of sour face the tree huggers pull when that lot starts piling up needing a disposal method.

BrumLee:
This article from the SMMT:

Ken Livingstone, mayor of London has asked Transport for London to examine proposals to change the city’s current congestion charge.   He wants to encourage motorists to switch the cleaner vehicles by imposing a £25 daily entry fee for the most heavily polluting cars and is clearly taking a swipe at 4x4s.   Christopher Macgowan, chief executive at the SMMT recent condemned the ‘politics of envy’ that seem to underlie often misleading comments about urban 4x4s.
